GR Supra · J29-DB

The Toyota GR Supra, built by Magna Steyr in Austria from 2019, revives the Supra nameplate after a 17-year absence since the A80 ended production in 2002. It was co-developed with BMW on a shared platform that also underpins the BMW Z4.

Engine options include a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four of 194-255 hp and a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, the BMW B58, rated initially at 335 hp and later 382 hp with 499 N-m of torque. An 8-speed ZF automatic was standard, and a 6-speed manual joined the six-cylinder model in 2022. Car and Driver recorded 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds for the 3.0-litre version.

Launched in January 2019 with US sales from that July, the GR Supra returned Toyota to the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car segment under its Gazoo Racing performance brand.
