Maserati's grand tourer returned in 2023 with a twin-turbo V6, all-wheel drive, and a 762 PS electric Folgore variant. What the new GranTurismo is, at a glance.
The GranTurismo is Maserati’s definition of the grand tourer: a 2+2 coupe built to cross continents quickly and look right doing it. The first generation arrived in 2007, went from design to production in just nine months, and found more than 40,000 buyers across its 2007–2019 run.[1] The second generation, launched in 2023 on new architecture, is where the story gets interesting.[1]
One car, two hearts
The petrol cars — Modena and Trofeo — use Maserati’s 3.0-liter Nettuno twin-turbocharged V6 in a front-mid-engine, all-wheel-drive layout with an 8-speed automatic: 490 PS and 600 N·m in the Modena, 550 PS and 650 N·m in the Trofeo.[1]
Then there is the Folgore: all-electric, with triple permanent-magnet synchronous motors producing 762 PS and 1,350 N·m through four-wheel drive and a single-speed transmission, with a range of around 450 km.[1] Same silhouette, entirely different propulsion philosophy — and the convertible GranCabrio II extends the family further.[1]
The numbers
- 0–100 km/h: 2.7–3.9 seconds across the range.[1]
- Top speed: 302–325 km/h depending on variant.[1]
- Peak torque: from 600 N·m (Modena) to 1,350 N·m (Folgore).[1]
- Layout: 2+2 coupe, chassis code M189.[1]
The lineage it carries
The first-generation car established the template with a 4.2-liter and later 4.7-liter V8 making up to 460 PS, rear-wheel drive, and — in track-focused MC Stradale form — a claimed 303 km/h top speed with a two-seat cabin and carbon-ceramic brakes.[1] The new car trades the V8’s theater for more capability in every measurable direction, while the Folgore positions Maserati for whatever comes next.[1]
In the maker’s lineup, the GranTurismo is the flag-carrier — the car that states what Maserati believes a fast, beautiful, usable car should be. The complete specification lives on the full Maserati GranTurismo database page, and the current market is a click away: browse live GranTurismo listings.
