A 503 hp twin-turbo V6 with Ferrari engineering input, rear-wheel drive, and a Nurburgring saloon record. What the Quadrifoglio is and why it matters.
The Quadrifoglio is the high-performance flagship of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, unveiled in June 2015 as the brand’s return to the performance-saloon segment.[1] The name means “four-leaf clover,” Alfa Romeo’s long-standing racing emblem — and the car earns it.[1]
An engine with a famous accent
Under the hood sits an all-aluminum 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6, developed with Ferrari engineering input and sharing its bore and stroke dimensions with the engine in Ferrari’s California T.[1] It produces 510 PS (503 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 600 N·m (443 lb‑ft) of torque, with cylinder deactivation to help efficiency when you are not using all of it.[1]
Power goes to the rear wheels alone, through either an 8-speed ZF automatic or a 6-speed manual, managed by a torque-vectoring differential.[1] A carbon-fiber roof and hood keep weight down, and carbon-ceramic brakes are on the options list.[1]
The numbers
- 0–100 km/h: 3.9 seconds; 0–60 mph in 3.6–3.8 seconds.[1]
- Top speed: 307 km/h (191 mph).[1]
- Layout: front engine, rear-wheel drive, 4-door saloon.[1]
The proof came at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, where the Quadrifoglio set a production-saloon lap record — 7:39 for the manual, and 7:32 for the automatic in 2016.[1]
Where it sits, and the rare ones
The Quadrifoglio crowns the Giulia range, and above the standard car Alfa Romeo has built a string of limited editions: the 540 PS GTA and GTAm, capped at 500 units, plus the NRING Edition, Racing Edition, the 63-unit Quadrifoglio Collezione, and the 10-unit Luna Rossa.[1] These are the cars that will anchor the model’s collectibility long after the standard run ends.
What makes the Quadrifoglio compelling is not any single figure. It is that a practical four-door delivers supercar-adjacent pace without asking you to give anything up in daily life. Alfa Romeo built its comeback statement around that idea, and the car still carries it.
