Dodge 2008

The Dodge Challenger is an American muscle car produced across three generations. The original 1970-1974 model, built on Chrysler's E platform, entered the pony car market against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird, offering a wide range of engines up to the 426 Hemi. It sold 76,925 units in its debut year and 165,437 across the first generation.

A second generation from 1978 to 1983 broke sharply from the original, being a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant Lambda coupe with small inline-four engines rated at 77-105 horsepower. The nameplate then returned in 2008 as a full-size modern muscle car rivaling the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.

The third-generation Challenger became known for its high-performance SRT8, Hellcat, and Demon variants, cementing its status as an icon of American performance. Production ended on December 22, 2023, closing out the LX platform's 19-year run.
