2016–2026 Chassis NC1 3 trims

The Acura NSX, sold as the Honda NSX in Japan, is a two-seat mid-engine sports car spanning two generations. The first (1990-2006) was groundbreaking as the first production car with an all-aluminum semi-monocoque body, and Formula One champion Ayrton Senna contributed to its final development. Its cockpit design drew inspiration from the F-16 fighter jet.

The original paired a naturally aspirated V6, initially 3.0 liters and later 3.2, with Honda's VTEC variable valve timing, mounted behind the driver and driving the rear wheels. Fewer than 20,000 were built, and a targa-top joined the coupe in 1995.

The second generation (2016-2022) reinvented the NSX as a hybrid, combining a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with three electric motors for 573 hp, rising to 602 hp in the final Type S. Built in Marysville, Ohio, it used all-wheel drive, and the Type S was limited to 300 US units before production ended in November 2022.

Frequently asked

Is the Acura NSX a hybrid?
Yes. The second-generation NSX pairs a twin-turbo V6 with three electric motors in a Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system that also provides torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.
How much does a second-gen NSX cost?
It started around $156,000 new; used examples typically run from the $120,000s upward, with the limited 2022 Type S commanding a premium.
Why was the NSX discontinued?
Honda ended the NC1 NSX in 2022 with the limited Type S; low sales volume for a six-figure hybrid supercar made a direct replacement hard to justify.
