The Dark Horse is the performance flagship of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang (S650), introduced in 2024. It is positioned as a street-legal car engineered for international road courses, echoing the role of the 2012-2013 Boss 302 and sitting above the standard GT in the lineup.

It uses a modified 5.0-litre Coyote V8 producing 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque, with a unique crankshaft and forged connecting rods borrowed from the sixth-generation Shelby GT500. That places it above the GT's 480 hp. A 6-speed TREMEC TR-3160 manual transmission is offered, alongside revised suspension tuning and aerodynamic changes aimed at track use.

The Dark Horse name and hardware mark Ford's continued commitment to a naturally aspirated V8 and manual gearbox in the current Mustang range.
