The BMW Z4 is a two-seat roadster produced since 2003 as part of BMW's Z series, the letter standing for Zukunft, German for future. It uses a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and has spanned three generations across more than two decades.

The first-generation E85/E86 offered roadster and coupe forms; the E89 introduced a retractable hardtop that folds in about 10 seconds; and the current G29, built since 2018, returned to a soft top. Powertrains have ranged from inline-fours to inline-sixes, with production shifting from Spartanburg, South Carolina to Regensburg, Germany in 2009.

The G29 shares its platform with the Toyota Supra, and the two are built together in Austria. BMW ended Z4 production in March 2026.
