The BMW M2 is the high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series and the entry point to BMW's M lineup. As the smallest M car, it replaced the 1 Series M Coupe and delivers rear-wheel-drive performance in a compact package. Both generations use turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engines.

The first-generation F87 (2016-2021) launched with the 365 hp N55 engine, with Competition and CS versions using the twin-turbo S55 at 405-444 hp. The second-generation G87 (2023-present) uses the S58 twin-turbo, making 460 PS at launch and 480 PS after a 2025 refresh, with 0-100 km/h times around 4.1-4.3 seconds.

Variants include the base Coupe, the uprated Competition, and the track-focused CS with carbon fiber components. Production has run in Leipzig, Germany for the F87 and San Luis Potosi, Mexico for the G87.
