The Rolls-Royce Wraith at a Glance: 623 Horsepower, No Drama

How Goodwood's two-door grand tourer became the fastest-accelerating Rolls-Royce of its day without raising its voice.

The Rolls-Royce Wraith is what happens when the world’s most unhurried carmaker decides to build something fast. Introduced in 2013, it marked the marque’s return to the two-door hardtop coupe — a body style it had not offered since 1955.[1] It shares its platform with the Ghost sedan and is assembled at Goodwood in England.[1]

The powertrain

Under the long bonnet sits a 6,592 cc twin-turbocharged BMW N74 V12 producing 623 hp at 5,600 rpm and 800 N·m (590 lb-ft) of torque across a wide plateau from 1,500 to 5,500 rpm.[1] Drive goes rearward through a ZF 8-speed automatic.[1] The result is 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds, which made it the fastest-accelerating Rolls-Royce ever produced at its launch, with top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.[1]

A grand tourer that treats 623 horsepower as a comfort feature.

Signature details

Two features define the Wraith experience. The satellite-aided transmission reads the road ahead and selects gears accordingly, so the car is always in the right ratio without appearing to try.[1] And the Starlight headliner — fibre-optic points of light woven into the roof lining — became one of the marque’s most requested signatures.[1]

The range

  • Wraith: the standard car — 623 hp, 4.4 seconds to 60 mph[1]
  • Black Badge: the darker, more assertive version, with torque raised to 870 N·m[1]
  • Landspeed and Kryptos: limited editions that closed out the model’s run[1]

Its place in the lineup

Within the Rolls-Royce range, the Wraith was the driver’s car — the one built for the owner who takes the wheel rather than the rear seat. Production ran from 2013 to 2022, and it now stands as the last of a particular idea: a V12, rear-drive, two-door Rolls-Royce grand tourer.[1] Explore the full figures on the Rolls-Royce Wraith database page, or see which Wraiths are available now.
