How the Lamborghini Revuelto Works: One V12, Three Motors, 1,001 hp

Lamborghini's answer to electrification was not to retire the V12 but to reinforce it. Inside the Revuelto's hybrid flagship formula.

When Lamborghini finally had to electrify its flagship, it refused to give up the thing that defines it. The Revuelto, unveiled in March 2023 as the successor to the Aventador, keeps a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 at its center and adds three electric motors around it — making it the brand’s first series-production plug-in hybrid[1], and a clear departure from earlier mild-hybrid experiments like the Sian[1].

The arithmetic

The V12 alone produces 814 hp. The three electric motors add 187 hp, for a combined 1,001 hp and 783 lb⋅ft of torque[1]. Power reaches the road through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive[1]. The results: 0–60 in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph — 350 km/h[1].

  • Engine: 6.5 L naturally aspirated V12 with three electric motors (PHEV)[1]
  • Layout: mid-engine, all-wheel drive[1]
  • Battery: 3.8 kWh, supporting several drive modes including a Città setting for low-speed urban use[1]
  • Body: 2-door coupé[1]

The structure underneath

The chassis is an all-new carbon-fiber monocoque, roughly 10 percent lighter than the Aventador’s while offering 25 percent greater torsional rigidity[1]. That is the quiet half of the Revuelto story: the hybrid system added hardware, so the structure had to claw back weight and add stiffness at the same time. Full production began in July 2023[1].

Electrification was supposed to soften cars like this. The Revuelto used it to make the V12 louder in the story, not quieter.

Place in the lineup

The Revuelto is the mid-engine flagship[1] — the top of the range and the template for where Sant’Agata goes next. Around the standard car sit the special versions: Opera Unica, the 99-unit Miura 60°, the Revuelto SV, and the Fenomeno[1]. Each one narrows the funnel further, but the core car already makes the argument: the V12 era did not end, it hybridized.
